Research Interview Translation and Transcription
TP Translations provides human translation and transcription of research interviews, focus groups and other recorded qualitative material. Projects can involve one recording or a collection across several languages. Availability depends on the languages, subject matter, recording quality, volume and timescale.
Original-language transcript
A written transcript in the language spoken in the recording. Choose this when the research team will work with the original language.
English translated transcript
An English transcript prepared from the non-English recording. Confirm the intended use and the level of detail needed.
Original-language transcript and English translation
Two documents allowing the research team to compare the source-language transcript with the English version. Specify whether matching speaker labels, paragraph references or timestamps are needed.
Translation of an existing transcript
A written source transcript translated into the required target language. Tell us whether checking against the recording is also required. The process and price differ between these output options.
Research interviews and focus groups
We can discuss one-to-one interviews, focus groups, community consultations, healthcare and social research, recorded observations, oral histories, evaluation interviews and multilingual research programmes.
Project instructions
Please provide:
- Source and target languages, including any language switching
- Recording duration and number of speakers
- Subject area and relevant terminology
- Required output and verbatim style
- Speaker-label format and timestamp requirements
- Participant codes and anonymisation instructions
- Templates, review requirements and deadline
Anonymisation
Names and other agreed identifiers can be replaced during transcription or translation. Define the identifiers and placeholder format. The research team remains responsible for checking whether indirect details could identify a participant.
Security and research governance
Secure file-transfer facilities are available. We can provide information for supplier reviews, research ethics applications and Data Processing Agreements. The research organisation determines its lawful basis, governance requirements and whether the proposed process is suitable.
Quality review
The appropriate review process depends on the language, subject and intended use. Tell us whether you require translation only, bilingual output or an additional proofreading stage. We will confirm what is included in the quote.
